Representation during construction: Review of construction plans for compliance with design requirements and for good practices.
Material inspection and verification for all materials entering into the hull construction, machinery installations and piping Systems to assure they are in accordance with the specifications and applicable regulations, and that no substandard materials are used.
Inspection during fabrication to assure that the builder maintains a high level of quality and that good construction practices are followed.
Valsamis can provide qualified representation On a long or short term basis for any or all of the following:

Coatings inspection to ensure that specifications in regard to surface preparations, film thickness, etc., are strictly adhered to.
Installation verification on all main, auxiliary and deck machinery to ensure that all relevant clearances, tolerances, and performance data are acceptable and are recorded for future reference.
Attendance at all shop tests for all machinery before installation on board.
Review of all new innovations from different manufacturers in order to update the equipment while vessel is being built.
Electrical insulation resistance test verification for generators, motors and other electrical equipment and circuits on hoard, to ensure that the data is recorded for future reference.
Testing and sea trial attendance to assure that all tests are properly carried out, reported, and guarantee compliance with building contract.
Follow up on the vessel's performance in the guar-antee period, and prepare reports addressing the guarantee list.
Dry-docking attendance to assure that guaranteed items are corrected.
Pre-purchase condition survey:
An in-depth condition survey of the vessel can he conducted. These surveys determine the condition of the hull, machinery, piping systems, electrical systems, cargo handling equipment, life saving appliances, fire fighting system, accommodations, and other items of concern to the purchaser. In addition, the bunkering records and log book are checked and the consumption of fuel oil and Lube oil determined. These consumption figures help in evaluating the economics of the purchase. For vessels that will undergo modification, special attention can he given to areas affected by the modification thereby exposing potential problems before they occur.
Damage and repair estimating for hull & machinery:
Representation of owners in classification Societies protection and indemnity clubs - underwriters.
Supervision of repairs in shipyards worldwide.
History and achievements:
Since 1979 we have attended dry-docking and repairs as well as engine modifications on more than one hundred vessels worldwide in major shipyards such as: Mitsubishi-Yokohama, Mitsui in Tamano. Sanoyas in Mitzushima, Hyundai in Ulsan, Sem-bawang, Hitachi, Keppel in Singapore, Enavi in Rio, Mercantile Belliard in Antwerp, Royal Schelde in Flushing, Syros in Greece, Verolme in Rotterdam, Todd in San Francisco, etc.
We have been involved in many ship design projects in various shipyards such as Sanoyas in Mitzushima, NKK Shimizu works, etc. Our function was to act as owners representatives responsible for the contracts, specifications, plan approval, design changes and local supervision during construction, sea trials, delivery, guarantee dry-docking. Our main objective is to insure the quality of materials and the integrity of construction according to the lines of specifications and to propose changes in different phases of construction so that the end product will operate economically and efficiently during it's years of service.
